Gunmen have reportedly killed a 70-year-old Reverend Fr Mimang Lekyil in Kwakas community, Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Two women who were at the scene of the attack were also injured in the process and are receiving treatment at Alheri Nursing Home, Dung community.
An eyewitness from the community told newsmen that the gunmen, alleged to be kidnappers, attacked the victim’s house around 9 pm last night just as the occupants of the house were about to sleep.
Bishop Ayuba Matawal, a resident of Bokkos, who also confirmed the incident, narrated that the two women were earlier kidnapped by the kidnappers but were rescued by vigilantes and youth in the area.
According to the eye witness, “Yes, the incident happened. They shot the Reverend Fr. The two women in the house, his wife and a visitor, were kidnapped but later rescued by residents of the area who mobilised to trail the assailants.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the gunmen came to kidnap the Reverend since they went with the women before the perpetrators abandoned them, “Bishop Ayuba said.
Bishop Matawal further stated that the corpse of the deceased 70-year-old man has been deposited at Luna Mortuary in Bokkos,
