Hamilton Says He’ll Support England, Brazil At 2026 World Cup

Legendary Ferrari driver and seven-time Formula One world champion, Lewis Hamilton has shared which teams he’ll be cheering for at the 2026 World Cup — and it’s a tie between his native England and the beloved Brazilian squad.

Speaking ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, where the 41-year-old currently sits fourth in the F1 standings, Hamilton opened up about a childhood admiration for the South American giants that still holds strong today.

“Honestly, Brazil has always been my favorite team, right alongside England,” Hamilton told the Mirror. “Growing up in the UK, I loved watching them play. The colors, the culture, the sheer skill — they just looked so cool.”

He added that part of the appeal lies in the players’ humble beginnings. “So many of them come from the streets, playing without shoes. There’s something truly special about Brazilian culture.”

Hamilton’s connection to Brazil runs deep. In 2021, he paid tribute to the late Ayrton Senna by waving the Brazilian flag after his win at Interlagos. In 2017, the Senna family gifted him a race-worn helmet. And in 2022, he was granted honorary Brazilian citizenship, citing a profound bond with the country’s people and energy.
