Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat yesterday urged members of the All Progressives Congress to intensify grassroots mobilisation to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and victory for the party in the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.

Hamzat advised party supporters to mobilise at least five voters each and ensure they vote for the APC on election day.

“It is important that we must come out to vote,” he said, adding that “we must deliver Nigeria to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu again in 2027.”

The deputy governor spoke during a “Special Congregational Prayer for President Tinubu” organised by the Renewed Hope Network at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos.

The prayer session was officiated by the Lagos State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Stephen Adegbite, and Muslim cleric Alhaji Abdulrahman Lawal.

Prayers were offered for President Tinubu, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Hamzat, and for peace in Nigeria and Lagos State.

At the event, attended by members of the Lagos APC political family, unions, ethnic groups, youth organisations, and women groups, President Tinubu was endorsed for re-election, while Hamzat received the backing of party stakeholders as a preferred successor to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Speakers at the gathering, including Governor Sanwo-Olu, House of Representatives member James Faleke, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, and Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, justified Tinubu’s endorsement by citing achievements recorded under his administration.

They also stressed that Lagos APC leaders were united in their support for Hamzat as Sanwo-Olu’s successor.

Hamzat, while appreciating the endorsement, said Governor Sanwo-Olu had laid a solid foundation for development in Lagos State, adding that it would be easier to build on the achievements already recorded.

“Our father must continue the job he is doing to save Nigeria,” he said in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.

He also commended President Tinubu for providing direction for the country and praised the First Lady for her philanthropic initiatives.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who led members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) to the podium on behalf of elder statesman Prince Oluyole Olusi, formally endorsed both Tinubu and Hamzat.

“On behalf of all GAC leaders, we endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat,” he said.

Former Governor Yahaya Bello praised Tinubu for his leadership role and political support over the years, recalling the President’s contribution to his emergence as governor in Kogi State.

He also acknowledged the opportunities Tinubu had extended to Kogi indigenes in Lagos, including Faleke.

Bello, now a senatorial aspirant in Kogi Central, pledged support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“Mr President, you cannot be tired. Continue to provide leadership for the younger generation. You have paid your dues in activism and leadership,” he said.

On Hamzat, Bello described him as “loyal, intelligent, dedicated, and patient,” adding that he expected broad support for the deputy governor’s aspiration.

Speaker Obasa also described Hamzat as a loyal and formidable candidate and urged party members to begin mobilisation efforts across Lagos communities.

Faleke, who coordinated the endorsement session, urged APC supporters to remain united and actively participate in voter mobilisation.

He added:”Today’s is a unified gathering. President Tinubu has done well in the last three years, laying the foundation for economic and infrastructural development.

“Look at the support base. Those outside (TBS) are more than those inside. Lagos is APC and by the grace of God, it will remain APC. Don’t listen to the container economist who is moving from one party to the other. He is telling lies.”

At the prayer session were Pa Olusi, Pa Adeseye Ogunlewe, Pa Akanni Serki-Bamu, Pa Rabiu Oluwa, Pa Yahaya Dosunmu, Pa Alabi Macfoy, Pa Tony Adefuye, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, Pa James Odunmbaku, Pa Henry Ajomale, Senators Musiliu Obanikoro, Gbenga Ashafa, Ganiyu Solomon and Olorunnimbe Mamora; Joko Pelumi, Princess Sarah Sosan, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Mrs. Remi Hamzat, Housing Commissioner Moroof Akinderu-Fatai, Mrs. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, and Retired DIG Hakeem Odumosu.
