The founder of Rapture Empowerment International, Osogbo, Osun State, Shina Olaribigbe has been stabbed to death at his church member’s house.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspected 43-year-old assailant, Wale Ogunsanmi, had in the early hours of Thursday stabbed the cleric who had come to mediate in a domestic issue between him and his wife at his estranged wife’s house.

Confirming the tragic incident, the police said the incident occurred on January 1, 2025, when Ogunsanmi, who had been living separately from his wife for about a year, allegedly broke into her residence, found her with the pastor and stabbed the cleric to death with a knife.

It was gathered that the couple, although not officially divorced, had a history of frequent quarrels that led to their living apart.

A source told LEADERSHIP Weekend that Olaribigbe, who was known for intervening in the couple’s disputes went to visit the wife who had been ill for some time on the fateful day but the husband arrived at the residence early Thursday morning and found the clergyman in the room. Enraged by the situation, the husband allegedly attacked Olaribigbe and stabbed him to death.

In a statement by the Osun State Command PPRO, Mrs Yemisi Olawoyin Opalola, the command said it has arrested the 43-year-old man, in connection with the murder of his 52-year-old church pastor, Shina Olaribigbe.

“The incident occurred on January 1, 2025, at about 11:25pm. Ogunsanmi, who had been living separately from his wife for about a year, allegedly broke into her residence, where he found her with the pastor. He then stabbed the pastor to death with a knife.

“Police officers from the Dugbe Division responded promptly to the scene, arrested the suspect, and recovered the exhibit. The corpse has been deposited at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy,” the Police said.

Mrs Opalola stated that investigation is ongoing adding that the command was working to ensure that justice is served.
