Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) has handed over a block of three classrooms to the Tsaragi community in Edu local government area of Kwara State.
The commissioning of the classrooms at the Tsaragi Unity Senior Secondary school was greeted with excitement by the people of the area.
The chairman of the Governing Council of HYPPADEC, Barr. Joseph Ityav, who was on a four-day visit to Kwara State, said the classrooms would boost students’ learning.
Ityav added, “We are handing over these classrooms to the community today. This project is one of the many of such that we are doing. I want to assure you that HYPPADEC will not do anything that fall short of standard.
“Although we have handed the classrooms to the community through the Emir of Tsaragi but I assure you that we have also awarded the contract to supply furniture and books.”
In his remarks, the Emir of Tsaragi, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Kpotwa thanked HYPPADEC for its kind gesture.
The principal of the school, Magaji Ahmed, described the intervention as timely even as he urged the commission to do more for them.
“It is marvellous and impressive. I want to thank HYPPADEC for extending this hand of friendship to us. There has been a shortage of classes but this is kind of a relief for us even though like Oliver Twist, we will still ask for more,” he said.
