The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has congratulated Olatunji Disu on his appointment as Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) by President Bola Tinubu, describing the development as timely, well-deserved, and commendable.

In a statement issued by its International Spokesman, Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke, the association said Disu’s proven professionalism, bravery, and dedication to national security make him well-suited to lead the Nigeria Police Force at a pivotal moment in the country’s security landscape.

“His appointment signals a new chapter of hope for policing in Nigeria, and we are confident that he will deliver on his mandate with distinction,” Nkweke stated.

Amb. Nkweke further disclosed that, in recognition of his leadership credentials, IAWPA has appointed Disu to head its West African Delegation to the United Nations 15th Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

According to him, the conference will serve as an important platform for sharing ideas, strengthening international collaboration, and gaining exposure to global best practices that would ultimately enhance the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.

The association also paid tribute to the outgoing Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, applauding his service and acknowledging the significant reforms and strides recorded in internal security during his tenure.

Reaffirming IAWPA’s standing as a global peace advocacy organisation with Special Consultative Status under the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, Nkweke noted that the body, as the sole organiser of Nigeria Police Cooperation Day, was committed to deepening collaboration with the new IGP and the Nigeria Police Force to advance peacebuilding, security, and public trust.

“IAWPA stands ready to work hand-in-hand with the Nigerian Police under IGP Olatunji Disu to promote safety, justice, and sustainable peace, both in Nigeria and across West Africa,” the statement added.
