Former Military President Gen.Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) has called on the legislature to pass laws guaranteeing dividends of democracy for the people.
The former Nigerian leader stated this when he received the speaker of Niger State House of Assembly, Hon Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, and his Zamfara State counterpart, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, at his house in Minna.
IBB advocated for better synergy between the legislature and the executive arms of government to bring development closer to the people, which he said, aligns with democratic principles.
Babangida stressed the importance of collaboration and effective governance in achieving set goals.
He thanked the speakers and members of their legislatures for the visit.
Earlier, the speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Sarkin-Daji said their visit aimed to tap into his wealth of experience and congratulate his family on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent appointment of his son, Alhaji Mohammed Babangida, as the chairman of the Bank of Agriculture.
The speaker assured General Babangida of the 10th Assembly’s continued support and cooperation for the benefit of the people of Niger State and Nigeria at large.
The speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki commended the former Military President of Nigeria for his fatherly role in the country’s socio-economic development.
