The annual conference is aimed at promoting economic and educational growth within our communities in Nigeria and unity among the Idoma people in the United States of America.

This year’s edition with the theme, “The Effect of Security on the Economic Development of Idomaland” is slated for  August 1-3, 2024 in Edison, New Jersey.

In a statement issued over the weekend, the national president of the association, Dr Edwin Ochai, said the convention would attract notable Idoma sons and daughters as well as other prominent Nigerians, including the  Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hycainth Alia, HRH Elaigwu Odogbo (Och’Idoma V), Senate minority leader, Abba Moro, among others.

He said the event would be streamed live in the media to other Idoma sons and daughters all over the world.

On the reason behind the theme of the event, Ochai said, “Insecurity is not just a threat to our lives; it is a big barrier to our development. Without security, our dreams of economic prosperity and social progress remain out of reach. A secure environment is the foundation upon which we can build a thriving economy. Investors, both local and foreign, are deterred by the threat of violence and instability. Businesses cannot flourish in an environment where safety is not guaranteed. It is clear that if we are to attract investment, create jobs, and drive economic growth, we must first ensure the safety of our people and property.”

Idoma Association USA is a non-profit and non-governmental organization formed in the US with a mission that includes, but is not limited to, promoting economic and educational growth within our communities in Nigeria and unity among the Idoma people in the United States.
