The Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has affirmed that the new policing vision and initiatives with the establishment of the Complaint Response Unit is not to witch-hunt Police officers but to promote accountability in the Police force, enhance police-community collaboration and build confidence in the members of the public.

The Police boss stated this during his official duty tour of Lagos appealed to the members of the public to cooperate with the police and give them information.

He asserted that the new policing vision is about emplacing a professionally competent, service-driven rule of law complaint and people-friendly police force that will support the agenda of the government in its effort for economic recovery and growth as well as the social and political development of our country.

The IGP stressed that the police force does not want the actions of policemen and police officers to be reported on social media as  impeccable officers with integrity would be trained to oversee the unit.

In his address, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa described the distinctive security challenges faced by Lagos State with the prevalent threats of cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, and Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV).

He asserted that the pressing need to address the thin line between civil and criminal dynamics in land disputes, the traffic gridlock, and occasional traffic robberies that have been compounded by ongoing road projects, notably the Lagos-Ibadan highway.

He added that the state Command will hold  a conference, aimed at highlighting  the discourse on cultism and violent crimes.
