As part of the children day celebration, wife of the inspector-general of police, Elizabeth Kayode Egbetokun has donated materials to POWA Model Secondary School, Asokoro, Abuja.
The IGP’s wife who is also the president of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) hosted over 1,000 students to different games and a march past, while donating books and other school materials to them.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Egbetokun said: “We gather to celebrate the essence of childhood on this auspicious Children’s Day, officially celebrated on the 27th of May every year.
I stand before you with a heart filled with humility as the national president of the Police Officers Wives Association.
“Children’s Day is not just another date on the calendar, it is a celebration of innocent, wonderful and limitless potential that reside within each and every child.
It is a day to reflect on the importance of nurturing and protecting our future leaders, innovators and change makers.
“As parents, it is our responsibility to create an environment where children can thrive, learn and dream without fear or limitation.”
She added that as part of her vision, she would assist in ensure that children of police officers have access to quality education and good health among others basic needs.
