Speaking on a motion under matters of urgent public importance raised by Mr Daniel Ogah Ogazi ( APC,Kokona East) on the need to curtail the disturbing trend during the Assembly proceeding on Monday, the speaker, Mr Danladi Jatau said the anomaly has been creating tension across mining areas in the state.
He said the situation especially in Kokona loval government area of the state is capable of undermining the peace and security of the area.

He, therefore, called on the state government to flush out all illegal miners and other criminal activities that could cause the breach of peace in the state.

Speaker Jatau also called on the state government to ensure that miners given licence to operate are subjected to all the necessary processes as required by law.

“Our resolution is to the effect that I want to appreciate His Excellency Gov. Abdullahi Sule for attracting investors to the state, and while he is doing that, we will not allow anybody to destroy such efforts.

“The position of the House is also that the Commissioner of Police should mobilize his men to flush out all illegal miners in the state,” he said.

Earlier, Ogazi, while raising the motion, appreciated the effort of Governor Abdullahi Sule in attracting investors to the state.

He, however, expressed worries over recent development in the state, especially in Kokona LGA where illegal mining has become the order of the day.

“Where a mining site has been named Sambisa Forest in the area which create negativity and is threatening the security of the people of the area.

“There was a site of lithium found in Amba community, especially areas like Agaza, Kware, Ego, Egboka and Agbadu where this activity is thriving.

“Mr. Speaker, the law that established mining act did not permit illegal mining so we call on government to flush out all illegal miners in the state,” he stated.
