The Kano State chapter of JJama’atu Izalatul BBidi’a Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has endorsed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a second term.

The group cited the administration’s development strides and people-centred policies for its action.

The endorsement was announced by the chairman of JIBWIS in Kano, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh, when Governor Yusuf paid him a condolence visit over the recent death of his wife.

In a statement issued yesterday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, Prof. Saleh commended the governor for personally leading the condolence visit, describing the gesture as a demonstration of humility, compassion and respect for religious leaders.

He said the achievements recorded by the Yusuf administration had restored public confidence in governance and repositioned Kano on the path of development.

The cleric maintained that the ongoing projects being executed by the administration required continuity to enable the government to consolidate its achievements.

He therefore declared JJIBWIS’ endorsement of Yusuf’s re-election bid, expressing confidence that another four-year term would enable the governor to deepen ongoing reforms and improve the welfare of residents.

Responding, Governor Yusuf thanked the cleric for his prayers, support and confidence in his administration.

The governor also condoled with Saleh over the loss of his wife and prayed for Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.

Yusuf commended Islamic scholars in the state for promoting peace, unity and religious harmony, noting that their contributions remained vital to maintaining stability and fostering mutual understanding among the people.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with religious institutions and leaders to preservKano’s religious and cultural values while advancing sustainable development.
