June 12 Protest Against Akpabio, Fagbemi, Others Called Off By Justice, Equity Movement

The Justice and Equity Movement has officially called off a highly anticipated protest scheduled for June 12.

The protest aimed to tarnish key figures in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. This decision came after revelations that the information fueling the planned demonstration was rooted in “pure mischief and blackmail.”

The protest was set to target prominent officials, including Senate President Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio GCON, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation Chief Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi SAN, Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Olanipekun Olukoyede, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation Chief George Akume. However, the Justice and Equity Movement, led by Comrade Moshood Ajibola, has taken a principled stand against manipulating facts that led to the protest’s inception.

In a statement, the Justice and Equity Movement condemned the actions of those who sought to mislead the public for their nefarious purposes. “We have uncovered a web of deceit that seeks to tarnish the reputations of innocent individuals through baseless allegations and unscrupulous tactics,” Ajibola declared.

“This is not merely a matter of misinformation; it is an affront to the essence of our democracy and the sacrifices made on June 12, a date that symbolises our collective struggle for justice and equity.”

The group has called upon other civil society organisations to exercise extreme caution and due diligence in their endeavours, urging them to thoroughly verify information before mobilising for public demonstrations. “We cannot allow the sacred date of June 12 to be exploited for blackmail, mischief, and the propagation of lies,” Ajibola emphasized. “We must remain vigilant against those who seek to undermine our democratic values for their gain.”

The Justice and Equity Movement has also issued a stark warning to the architects of this misinformation campaign. “We will not stand idly by while you play games with the truth. We are committed to exposing those behind these deceitful tactics and holding them accountable for their actions,” Ajibola asserted. “Let this serve as a clarion call to all who would dare to manipulate the narratives that shape our society: your time of reckoning is coming.”

As the nation reflects on June 12’s significance, the Justice and Equity Movement remains steadfast in its commitment to justice and truth. It urges all citizens to stand united against deception and manipulation. In a time when integrity is paramount, the movement calls for a collective effort to protect the sanctity of democratic discourse and ensure that June 12’s legacy is honoured with sincerity and respect.
