Three labourers were on Sunday evening feared dead after a landslide occurred in a village called Unguwan Ayaba of Keffi local government area of Nasarawa State.
The workers were digging and loading red soil into a waiting lorry at a location in the village when it suddenly collapsed from the cliff and buried four of them.
One of them was said to be lucky as he was able to escape from under the debris with injuries while the remaining three were not so lucky.
Rescue workers and villagers including family members of the victims have besieged the location in order to recover the bodies of the three labourers since Sunday evening when the incident happened but to no avail as of the time of this report.
One of the volunteers at the site, Saliu Abdullahi, who said they had spent more two hours digging to locate the workers, added that they won’t vacate the location until they recover the bodies of the three labourers.
Also, vice chairman of Tipper Owners Association in Keffi LGA, Aminu Sunusi, said they had sent for an excavator in order to expedite the rescue work.
Sunusi added that they will take a definite action on the site given its delicate nature and to forestall future occurrence of such accident.
