No fewer than seven people were killed and 11 others sustained various degrees of injury in a truck crash at Essa Community along Agaie-Badeggi Road in Katcha local government area of Niger State.
LEADERSHIP’s findings revealed that the truck was carrying grains belonging to the federal government, and all-male passengers numbering about 36, heading to Kano State from Lagos.
It was learnt that the accident occurred at about 3am on Sunday morning, and it occurred when the truck tried to manoeuvre through a bad portion of the road under, which is under construction.
The director-general of Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Abdullahi Baba Arah, confirmed the incident, saying that search and rescue operations were ongoing.
