The African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Dumebi Kachikwu, has warned members and stakeholders against participating in any congress or convention not sanctioned by its National Executive Committee (NEC).

In a statement released on Monday by Kingsley Temitope Ogga, Chairman of State Chairmen, the NEC announced dates for the party’s Non-Elective Congresses and Special Convention ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ogga cited the ADC Constitution, the Electoral Act, and a recent Federal High Court judgment in Abuja as the legal basis for the schedule.

Ward and Local Government Area Non-Elective Congresses are scheduled for Thursday, 7 May 2026, across the country.

State Congresses will follow on Friday, 8 May 2026, according to the NEC timetable.

The party’s Special Convention and presidential primary are scheduled for Sunday, 24 May 2026.

The NEC said only congresses and conventions “conducted through the lawful structures of the NEC” are officially authorised, recognised, and valid.

Members, delegates, and aspirants were directed to use only official NEC channels at all levels for participation.

“Any parallel congress, convention, primary election, delegate process, nomination, or political activity organised by any unauthorised caretaker group, interim National Working Committee, or any illegal faction outside NEC’s authority will be considered null, void, and legally ineffective,” Ogga stated.

The NEC maintained that only outcomes from its approved processes will be accepted and binding for the 2027 general elections.
