Deputy Governor of Borno State, Hon. Umar Kadafur, and Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume yesterday led a delegation of Emirs, former Deputy Governors, and stakeholders from nine local government areas of Southern Borno Senatorial District on a sympathy visit to Governor Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Borno, Dr Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi.

The visit was in response to the devastating flood disaster that ravaged 70% of Maiduguri city, leaving more than 37 dead, many missing, and over one million people displaced.

During the visit, Senator Ndume explained that the delegation was formed after Governor Zulum’s live broadcast seeking assistance from well-to-do individuals.

As of Tuesday morning, the stakeholders unanimously agreed to contribute to a dedicated account, which received over N200 million from various donors. The delegation presented a cheque of N200 million to the state government to support the displaced victims.

Deputy Governor Kadafur expressed gratitude to all contributors, highlighting the brotherhood between the government and the people of Southern Borno.

He assured Governor Zulum that more donations are expected and will be channelled judiciously to provide relief items and support rebuilding.
