Wikki Tourists have unveiled Bala Abubakar Mohammed as their new Technical Adviser and presented their new kits ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, with the club targeting a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The unveiling ceremony, held at the Government House in Bauchi on Wednesday, also featured financial support for the club’s newly elected Supporters Club executives.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the club, urging the management, players and technical crew to work together to secure promotion to the top flight.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo, the governor described Wikki Tourists as an important institution in Bauchi’s sporting history, citing its contribution to football development and the production of players who have represented the state and Nigeria.
He charged the club’s interim management to remain focused, disciplined and committed to the task of restoring Wikki Tourists to the NPFL.
Mohammed expressed confidence that effective management and collective effort would help the club overcome its challenges and reclaim its place among Nigeria’s elite sides.
As part of the financial support announced at the event, Hammayo donated N2 million to the team and another N2 million to the Supporters Club, bringing his personal contribution to N4 million.
Earlier, Wikki Tourists chairman, Haruna Bako, said the ceremony was organised to present the club’s preparations for the new season and update the state government on efforts to improve its performance.
Bako disclosed that the team had participated in two pre-season tournaments in Katsina and Zaria as part of its preparations for the campaign.
He also cited the successful election of new Supporters Club executives and efforts to market the club internationally among the management’s activities since assuming office.
He said the management was working towards repositioning Wikki Tourists through improved administration, better preparations and stronger stakeholder engagement.
The chairman, however, appealed for continued government and stakeholder support as the club pursues its promotion target.
Bako announced a donation of N1 million to the Supporters Club, while retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Sani Mohammed, also contributed N1 million.
The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Bashir Ya’u, assured the club of the ministry’s continued support, urging the management and players to justify the government’s investment through discipline and improved performances.
Wikki Tourists captain, Shafiu Adamu Duguri, said the players were determined to give their best throughout the 2026/2027 NNL season to achieve the club’s ambition of returning to the NPFL.
