The commissioner for women, children, and disabled, Amina Abdullahi Sani, made this known while delivering an address at a workshop on enhancing awareness and promoting women’s inclusion in emerging industries.

The event, organised by the Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative and Fable Advisory, follows up on the domestication of the federal policy in Kano State.

Delivering her address, the commissioner explained that the WEE policy aligns with the Kano State government blueprint, which prioritises women’s empowerment.

“I must salute Isa Wali Empowerment Initiatives & Fable Advisory for organising this workshop as it goes along with the current administration blueprint, which prioritises Women’s Economic Empowerment under the able leadership of His Excellency, the executive governor of Kano State Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf.

“Equally, the DRPC & African Enterprise Challenge Funds are not left behind in recognition of their collaborative effort in the WEE policy domestication.

“I want to assure you that the WEE policy document will soon be signed, and implementation will follow up immediately.

“Together with you, I am confident that the ministry will be uplifted in improving the economic well-being of women and excel across the nation,” she stated.

For her part, the executive director of Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative, Amina Hanga, said the event is being held with emerging industries regarding the Women Economic Empowerment policy, a federal government policy that they want domesticating at the state level.

“So, we are looking at how we can, before it is even domesticated, raise more awareness about the policy and its importance in women’s lives.

“If women are economically empowered, he whole society benefits themselves, their families, their communities,
the growth and development of our state, Kano.

“The Women Economic Empowerment Policy is what we want domesticated. It’s a policy that looks at areas concerning empowering women from emerging industries, education, economic empowerment, etc. It’s looking at how we can get the state government to domesticate it.

“As you heard from the commissioner today because it’s already a document that has been validated”, she stated.

Several emerging industries, including IT, Kannywood, and CSO, attended the enlightenment programme.
