The Kano People’s Rights Alliance (KPRA) has declared support for the resignation of Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), describing the decision as courageous and people-centred.
The group said while Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the NNPP for the platform it provided him since 2022, its prolonged internal conflicts had significantly hampered its effectiveness and cohesion.
In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday, KPRA coordinator, Isyaku Lawal Tofa, said the governor’s decision to quit the NNPP was taken in the overall interest of Kano residents, amid deepening internal crises within the party.
He said: “The governor has expressed his gratitude to the party for the opportunities it provided him since 2022, acknowledging the support and goodwill of its leadership and members throughout his political journey.
“However, it is imperative to recognise that the persistent internal disputes and legal challenges facing the NNPP have hindered its ability to serve the public effectively.”
