The Kano state governor has inaugurated a technical working committee on blood transfusion to identify and address the gaps in blood transfusion services in the state.
Inaugurating the committee on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, said it was necessary to ensure blood transfusion safety.
He noted that the committee members were selected based on competency, with high expectations from them to make history in the state.
While commending the state governor for giving the needed attention to the people of the state, he congratulated them and charged them to work tirelessly to provide excellent service delivery to the teeming populace of the state.
In his remarks, Dr Musbahu Rabiāu, Chairman of the Committee and also the Director of Medical Services of the Hospitals Management Board, thanked Dr Labaran for considering them worthy of such an important responsibility and assured them that they would do justice to the task entrusted to them.
Part of the committeeās term of reference includes providing technical expertise and advice on blood transfusion-related matters, developing, domesticating, and implementing guidelines, policies, and standards needed to improve the initiative.
Others are to collaborate with stakeholders, including healthcare providers, health facilities, private blood banks, partners, and regulatory bodies, on issues related to blood transfusion services and provide training and support for healthcare workers.
