A new executive was elected by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kano State chapter and sworn in yesterday.
They include; Suleiman Dederi as chairman; Mustapha Muhammad (vice chairman); Abubakar Kwaru(secretary); Hauwa Suleiman (assistant secretary); Nura Bala (treasurer); Abdullahi Hassan (financial secretary) and Salish Kassim(auditor).
In his acceptance speech after taking the oath of office, Dederi promised to prioritise member’s welfare and enhance their professional development.
While promising to build on the legacies of the former executive, he promised to uphold the integrity of the profession and provide an enabling environment for journalists to work and thrive in the state.
State commissioner for information Baba Dantiye tasked the new leadership on professionalism. He also admonished members to always work in accordance with the ethics of the profession.
The inauguration ceremony was well graced by government officials and different union leaders.
