The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected thugs identified as Mohammed Isma’il a.k.a. Linga, and Sani Abdulsalam a.k.a. Guchi for allegedly inciting violence and brandishing weapons in viral videos shared on social media.
According to a statement on Wednesday by Kano Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Kiyawa, the duo were apprehended in an intelligence-led operation at Dala Quarters, where they had been mobilising youths and posting videos of themselves wielding dangerous weapons on platforms such as TikTok and Facebook.
During the operation, the police recovered a sword and two clubs from the suspects.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who ordered their arrest, directed that thorough investigation be carried out.
CP Bakori warned that the Command will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone found using social media to promote thuggery or violence.
“The Command urges parents and guardians to caution their wards against engaging in such acts and other forms of criminality.
“We remain committed to safeguarding lives and property in Kano State and will not tolerate any behavior that threatens community peace,” the statement read.
The Command also commended members of the public for providing credible information that led to the arrest, while also called for continued vigilance and cooperation.
