A woman, one Mary Olohunwa, is currently hospitalised after a severe attack by her ex-husband, Keji Ademola, in Bako Estate, in the Owode Onírin area of Lagos State.
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, a relative of Mary’s said that the incident occurred last Thursday as Mary was heading to her shop.
Ademola was alleged to have confronted her in anger over some unusual marks he noticed on their children’s heads.
Despite Mary explaining that the marks were intended for spiritual protection, Ademola reportedly beat her and struck her with a heavy stone.
Mary suffered significant injuries and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital.
Images and video footage reportedly obtained by SaharaReporters showed Mary with a bloodied face and Ademola being apprehended by local residents as he tried to flee the scene.
Mary’s sister revealed to the news outlet that the hospital bill for Mary’s treatment is around N160,000.
She added that this was not the first instance of violence from Ademola, stating, “This would be the third time this man wanted to kill my sister. It was because of his violent nature that they separated three years ago.”
The police have since taken Ademola into custody, and he is expected to be arraigned in court. However, Mary’s family remains concerned about the potential for police compromise, recalling a previous incident when Ademola was released without punishment.
