LaLiga: ‘Bellingham Advised Greenwood To Join Getafe’ — Bordalas

Getafa manager, Jose Bordalas, has said the club signed Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood after England midfielder Jude Bellingham advised him to move to the Spanish La Liga.

Greenwood joined Getafe on loan from Man United on transfer deadline day in September.

This comes after Manchester United confirmed Greenwood would not play for the club again, following an inquiry into his off-field conduct.

Man United are paying the majority of Greenwood’s wages and offers were in short supply for the 21-year-old attacker, with suitors worried about a potential backlash.

 

“It was a surprise, we never thought we could get a player like that,” Bordalas told RadioMarca.

 

“But they got in touch with our sporting director [Ruben Reyes], we talked, we didn’t think it could happen, but both sides made an effort [financially].”

 

He added, “Greenwood is friends with Bellingham, and he advised him to come to the Spanish league.”

 

Greenwood could make his Getafe debut on Sunday when his team will host Osasuna.

 

The forward has not played a professional match in nearly 18 months.
