A communication scholar and professor at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (FCMS), Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lai Oso, is dead.
The university don who is also the president of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria died in a road accident on Saturday evening on his way back to Lagos from Delta State University (DELSU), Abaraka, where he went to serve as an external examiner.
His death was confirmed by the dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, LASU, Professor Sunday Olayinka Alawode in a broadcast message yesterday morning.
Alawode wrote, “Good morning family. I am constrained to inform us of the involvement of Professor Muraino Olayiwola Oso (we all fondly called Baba Lai Oso) in a ghastly auto accident which claimed his life yesterday, June 24, 2023.
Oso’s colleague and a senior lecturer on the faculty, Omolade Atofojomi, also confirmed that the unfortunate incident happened Saturday night and that “the dean just informed the faculty.
“From God, we came and to him, we will return but this is so painful,” Atofojomo said.
The LASU management has not released an official statement as at the time of filing this report.
