Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has described the late emir of Ningi, Yunusa Danyaya, as a truthful and courageous person who did not avoid speaking the truth to power.
Danyaya, 88, died recently in a hospital in Kano after a protracted illness. He served the Ningi Emirate for about 46 years.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the emir’s palace in Ningi, Atiku said the emir bequeathed honesty and passion for improving the welfare of the people to upcoming leaders.
Atiku, added, “One thing that everybody is talking about him is that he was a very courageous person. He would tell you what it was no matter your position, whether you are a governor or a minister and whatever position.
“He was known to be very courageous. To be frank, he was very truthful. I think that is a guide for those of us who came across him.”
He said the death of Danyaya is a big loss to not just the people of Ningi Emirate, Bauchi State or the North but Nigeria as a whole.
