Anthrax, caused by Bacillus anthracis, affects cattle, sheep, goats, horses, and humans.

Symptoms include fever, coughing, diarrhoea, swollen lymph nodes, and bleeding from body openings in severe cases. The disease is highly contagious and can result in significant fatalities.

The ministry has called on neighbouring states to strengthen surveillance and implement preventive measures, including the vaccination of at-risk animals.

The public is advised to report unusual illnesses in animals or humans and adhere to guidelines issued by health authorities.
