Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has said his administration will continue to make the state civil service welfare package a priority irrespective of any situation.
Makinde stated this at an Inter-faith service held at the State’s Chapel Open Ground, Secretariat Agodi Ibadan on Monday which featured spiritual presentations from the three major religions in Nigeria, traditional, Christianity and Islam respectively.
He boasted to have succeeded in maintaining fairness, equity and justice leading to employment of 5,000 teachers, recruitment of health officials, reinstatement of wrongly dismissed workers that satisfactorily met the standard; improved payment of wage bill from the previous N4.8 billion to N7.2 billion in order to ensure better treatment of the state workers.
“We have listened to deductions on workers’ salary as presented by the labour leaders in Oyo State. Let me state here that this administration will continue on equity, fairness and justice as this has enabled our efforts in recruiting 5,000 teachers, recruitment of health officials and reinstatement of wrongly dismissed workers as satisfactorily met the standards”, Makinde said.
Makinde concluded that his administration would address two of the five outstanding deductions on the state workers’ salary within a few days.
“With the deductions read to us by the labour leaders, I want to state here that two out of the five outstanding deductions will be addressed within days”, Makinde added.
Meanwhile, the head of service, Alhaja Ololade Agboola while bidding farewell to the state workers, having served over thirty- four years called on the state civil and public servants to co-operate with her successor for a resounding progress in the Oyo State.
“We need to appreciate the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde because through his first tenure, there was no account of sack; no retrenching of workers rather increasing staff” , she said.
