Manchester United Agree Deal To Sell Altay Bayindir To Besiktas

Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal with Turkish Süper Lig giants Besiktas for the sale of back-up goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. The move signifies a further step in United’s strategy to streamline their first-team squad and manage their wage bill.

Bayindir, 27, joined Old Trafford in September 2023 from Fenerbahce for approximately €5 million, but has struggled to establish himself in Michael Carrick’s starting XI, often playing second fiddle to Andre Onana. Despite his regular involvement with the Turkish national team, he has made just 17 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions, keeping three clean sheets.

According to reports from Turkey, Besiktas’s long-standing interest has finally culminated in a formal agreement. Negotiations, which reportedly stalled over initial salary expectations, have now reached a compromise, with Bayindir expected to accept a reduced salary of around €2 million. United are set to recoup their initial investment, with Besiktas reportedly paying a fee in the region of €5 million.

This transfer is seen as a mutually beneficial outcome, allowing United to free up resources and Bayindir to secure regular first-team football in his homeland.
