Speaking at the 2025 International Workers’ Day celebration in Kano, Governor Yusuf announced the review of key policy documents including the Civil Service Rules, Financial Instructions, and Scheme of Service.

He also launched new training and capacity-building programmes in collaboration with institutions such as Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), aimed at revitalising the state’s workforce.

“Our goal is to build a modern, motivated, and highly professional civil service that reflects the values of integrity, innovation, and excellence,” Yusuf said.

The governor further revealed the payment of ₦16 billion in outstanding pension arrears, the upward review of the minimum pension from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000, and the release of ₦100 million to support pensioners’ activities.

“Pension reform is not just an administrative task; it is a moral duty to those who served with honour,” he added.

In a related move, the governor announced the creation of new ministries and agencies to stimulate employment and innovation.

These include the Ministries of Housing Development, Internal Security, Solid Minerals, and Power & Renewable Energy, as well as the Kano State ICT Development Agency and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency.

“These institutions are strategic responses to the needs of a growing and dynamic society,” he said.

Governor Yusuf also declared the immediate implementation of a ₦71,000 minimum wage for civil servants in the state to cushion economic hardship and boost productivity.

Urban renewal projects were also highlighted, including the construction of flyovers at Dan Agundi and Tal’udu junctions, road expansions, and drainage system upgrades, alongside intensified efforts to tackle insecurity and revamp the education sector.

Governor Yusuf further called for unity and patriotism in the face of economic challenges, urging citizens to remain resilient and committed to building a more prosperous Kano.
