Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has promised to run inclusive and people-oriented governance to fulfill his campaign promises.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in the governance structure, pledging that both indigenes and non-indigenes would be given a pride of place in his government.
Mbah, who addressed the Muslim Ummah at the 2023 Eid-el-Kabir celebration at Central Mosque, Enugu, added that every aspect of the economy would receive adequate attention, adding that all the timeline he gave, particularly on potable water, still stands.
While congratulating the Muslims in the state, Mbah urged the Muslim faithful to utilise the occasion of Eid-El Kabir to pray for peace and development in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
He commended non-indigenes, especially the Muslims among them for endorsing his order ending sit-at-home in the state and urged them to continue in prayers, particularly during this period of sacrifice, for an end to insecurity and for the peace of the state.
He emphasized that peace, growth, and development can only be enjoyed when there is security of lives and properties.
He expressed hope that the sacrifices made during the season would restore the much-desired peace, unity, and peaceful coexistence among citizens.
In a speech, the Sarkin Hausawa, of Enugu State, Alhaji Abukakar Sambo, explained that the feast of Eid-el-Kabir, “which is the Eid of sacrifice”, equally offered them the opportunity to celebrate the governor, because of his guts in ending the Mondays sit-at-home in the state.
Sambo disclosed that Governor Mbah has demonstrated courage, love and a style of leadership that promotes “unity, togetherness and love for both religions.” He further disclosed that the governor has opened the door for “most of our brothers in the neighbouring states to relocate to Enugu because of his stance against insecurity and sit-at-home in particular.”
“We the Muslim community in Enugu State assure you that you have our loyalty; you have our support; you have our prayers because you are indeed a friend of Muslims,” he added
