The Super Eagles camp for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe will now open on Wednesday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The camp was initially expected to open on Monday but it was shifted to Wednesday after several players invited to the match had stayed back to play for their various clubs in Europe.
The invited players were expected to start arriving in the country as from Monday evening.
The team gaffer, Jose Peseiro, who just renewed his contract on short term basis with the mandate to take the Super Eagles to AFCON semis next year with agreement to accept pay cut, is also in Uyo with some Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical staff.
The list of 23 invited players was made public by the NFF on Sunday with the likes of Victor Osimhen topping the 23-man list.
Others include, midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City, England); Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge, Belgium); Joe Ayodele-Aribo (Southampton FC, England); Frank Onyeka (Brentford FC, England)
Forwards: Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England); Samuel Chukwueze (AC Milan, Italy); Moses Simon (FC Nantes, France); Ademola Lookman (Atalanta FC, Italy); Victor Osimhen (Napoli FC, Italy); Taiwo Awoniyi (Nottingham Forest, England); Gift Orban (KAA Gent, Belgium); Victor Boniface (Bayern Leverkusen, Germany) to mentioned a few.
Conspicuously missing on the list is Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, and Alex Iwobi with the duo nursing various degrees of injuries.
