Osun State Amotekun Corps Commander Dr Adekunle Omoyele has debunked the rumour that his appointment as Amotekun Corps Commander was politically motivated.

Speaking at the Osun NUJ Correspondents’ personality interview programme, ‘News Point,’ in Osogbo, Omoyele said his appointment was a matter of putting a round peg in a round hole by a visionary leader, Governor Adeleke.

He noted that all he knew how to do best in life was combating crime and bringing criminals to their knees to ensure the safety of the citizenry’s lives and properties.

Omoyele, who assured Osun residents of protection through collaborative efforts of all the law enforcement agencies on the ground, added that more manpower is required to police our communities adequately.

According to him, the state government has approved the recruitment of 1,000 personnel to boost the state’s security architecture.

He added that recruiting the 1,000 corps was to complement the existing 320 personnel in the state.

The corps commander, who said that the security outfit was collaborating with neighbouring states to ensure border security, expressed the security network’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements.
