In a statement issued in Abuja, Mr. David Olaitan Oladimeji, the Coordinating Director of the Human Resource Department at the commission, expressed the unwavering support and confidence of NATCOM members in Dr. Baba Mohammed’s exceptional leadership.

The statement emphasized that NATCOM stands as the sole commission of its kind in Nigeria and remains under the capable leadership of Dr. Baba Mohammed.

He has demonstrated exceptional leadership during his tenure as a non-executive Director representing the federal government in various organizations, including Nitel, Mtel, Delta Steel Company, Aladja, Aluminium Smelter Company, Ikot Abasi, Nicon Insurance, Nigeria Reinsurance, Afribank Nigeria PLC, Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Nigerian Security Printing and Minting, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company, and Transcorp Hotels PLC, Abuja. Dr. Mohammed has also served as a member/secretary of the African Privatization Network, a member of the Nigeria/South Africa Bilateral Commission, and a board member of Nigerdock Nigeria PLC, among others.

NATCOM extends its best wishes to the Acting DG for many more fruitful years ahead, describing him as a seasoned administrator and public servant of impeccable repute, exemplified by his outstanding track record throughout his career in the civil service. This is further evidenced by his contributions to the public hearing on the bill for the establishment of NATCOM in accordance with ECOWAS protocol.

The statement highlights that Dr. Baba Mohammed’s appointment as DG of NATCOM came as no surprise to stakeholders who have closely followed his exemplary career and substantial contributions to the commission.

He is recognized as a staunch advocate of due process and a leader well-versed in the rule of law, as evidenced by his commitment to addressing the illegality associated with NATFORCE operations and its consequential implications.

He vigorously defended a bill before the 9th National Assembly seeking the establishment of a National Commission for the Proliferation of Small Arms, Ammunition, and Light Weapons Bill 2020 (SB. 283), aligning it with the ECOWAS convention.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Baba Mohammed’s academic journey is notable. After earning the distinction of being the overall best student in secondary school, he went on to obtain several qualifications, including a ND in Accounting from Benue Polytechnic, a B.Sc (Hons) in Accountancy from the University of Jos, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and completion of Course 20, PSLC, NIPSS, Kuru, Jos, Nigeria.

He also pursued Financial Management at Stafford Graduate School of Business in California, USA. Dr. Mohammed is a Fellow of the Certified National Accountants (FCNA), a Fellow of the Institute of Disaster Management and Safety Science, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Forensic and Investigative Professionals in Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), and successfully passed through the prestigious Corporate Governance Rating System (CGRS) by the NSE and CBI of London.

Baba Mohammed, FCNA, has received over 100 awards from both national and international entities, reflecting his vast experiences and substantial contributions to the growth of Nigeria.

Furthermore, Dr. Baba Mohammed’s birthday coincides with his 25th wedding anniversary, and the union has been blessed with seven children.
