NBA Women Forum Set For April Conference In Abuja

The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF) is gearing up for its highly anticipated 2025 Annual General Conference scheduled for April in Abuja.

With the theme, “From Promise to Action: Achieving Gender Parity for Lasting Change” the conference aims to spark national conversations around the advancement of women in the legal profession and beyond.

As part of the preparations, the FCT State Lead of the forum, Hajiya Hadiza Afegbua, has led a high-powered delegation to the Office of the NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN.

During the visit, Afegbua provided a progress report on the forum’s activities since her assumption of office in November last year, citing unprecedented expansion and growing impact across NBA branches in the FCT.

She expressed the forum’s commitment to fostering the professional growth of female lawyers and ensuring their active participation within the broader legal ecosystem.

In his response, the NBA president, Mazi Afam Osigwe, commended Afegbua for her visionary leadership and applauded the Forum’s strides in empowering women within the Bar.

He was joined by key NBA officials, including the general secretary, Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara; the treasurer, Mrs. Blessing Imo Udofa-Poromon and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Johnny Agim.

Osigwe reaffirmed the NBA’s commitment to supporting the Women Forum and female legal professionals across the country.

He also urged the FCT State Lead to ensure proper coordination for the successful hosting of the April conference, promising the association’s full backing.

With preparations in full swing, the 2025 NBA Women Forum Annual General Conference promises to be a landmark event for women in law, driving forward the forum’s agenda of gender parity and lasting institutional change.
