In an effort to commemorate Malaria Day, the non-governmental organization (NGO) Mom of Boys has donated medical equipment to the General Hospital in Bwari Area Council, Abuja.

Mom of Boys is a Nigerian community based Non-governmental organization whose sole purpose is to support, love, and cater for mothers.

Speaking with reporters on the sidelines of the donation yesterday, the Chief Executive Officer of Mom For Boys, Mrs. Sandra Uzodimma, said the donation was part of our initiatives activities to celebrate the 2024 World Malaria Day.

According to her, today marks Malaria Day, which is very crucial for us to inform mothers about preventive care and the measures they need to prevent malaria during maternal health.

“As we know, maternal mortality is one of the highest rates in Nigeria, and to prevent it, malaria is one of the leading causes we have.

“We want to help mothers, children, and also teach them preventive measures to help safeguard their maternal health, and this is why we are here today.

“We are also distributing mosquito nets, preventive care that would aid mothers in helping them with their maternal health training.”

She appeals to all Nigerians to always take malaria preventive measures, as malaria is a very deadly disease. Malaria still affects mothers today, such as miscarriages and various other issues that can be caused during pregnancy when someone has malaria.

She explained that malaria is not just a common illness as seen. We can prevent it, and we can ensure that mothers don’t go through all of this by just giving them the preventive care they need.

While commending the NGOs, Health Deputy Nursing Unit, Ibrahim Shehu, stated, “Government cannot do it alone; we need the private sector and non-governmental organizations to also help the government. We are very grateful.”
