A non-governmental Organisation, Humanity Impact and Inspire, a subsidiary of Wuraolami foundation has appealed to private sector and government in Nigeria to invest more in education because it leads to advancement of a nation.

Speaking in Lagos while awarding scholarships to some students who are beneficiaries of the foundation, its founder, Dame Ifeoyinola wuraolami-Jacobs noted that the foundation was particular about reaching out to the less privileged and including those who are excluded in the society.

Jacobs said the target of her NGO is to award scholarship to 100 indigents students in the 2023 and so far 20 students have benefited with each beneficiary issued a cheque of five hundred thousand Naira (N500,000).

She maintained that her NGO also takes it as a responsibility to help rebuild classrooms in some schools and laboratory halls.

“At Impact and Inspire, we are certain that education is one of the main avenues for social mobility. From the beginning of our project, in 2014 we decided and determined to invest in education, believing that the main purpose of our being and living is to teach and learn from those who left a great legacy and educate the next generation because knowledge is key.

“One of the main decisions was that our Social Responsibility programs would focus on access to education, not only for our families, but for the community in our area of influence and especially young people from low-income households in Nigeria and anywhere they can be found in our nation.

“Private sectors and our blessed government must invest in education, intended to assist local Indigenes and other NGOs develop the infrastructure necessary to serve the children in the company’s areas of influence.

“With the crafting of the Slogan; the primary objective to the fulfillment of our noble cause, is lifting up souls of individuals who require the sanity of the people that matters and the attention needed to create a conducive platform to the people who need them. We are solely committed in collective terms, bringing smiles to the face of the down trodden, setting up a global standard of impacting lives.

Extolling the virtue of the founder of the NGO, Mrs Tinuola Idowu former director in Lagos State ministry of Education commended Dame Jacobs for her selfless service to the less privileged and the community and her commitment to shape a better future for the country.

She explained that some set up NGO for their personal gain and use the children to raise funds for themselves but Impact and Inspire is not like that, but she is involved because of her passion for children and to help them realise their dream.

Mrs Idowu therefore urged the students to be more committed to their education reiterating that only education that can make them dynamic.

She urged them not to lose focus just as she encouraged them to be hardworking to be able to achieve their vision.

Mrs Idowu also appealed to the beneficiaries of the scholarship to make good use of the opportunity afforded them and as well inculcate the habit to give back to the society in future.

Explaining how the beneficiaries of the scholarship were chosen, Ms Uche Hellen, a director of education with Impact and Inspire foundation, she noted that the students applied for the scholarship and the NGO investigated all the applicants and give it to those who really meet the requirements, who must be indigent student and with good academic records.

She said in most cases, the NGO parly with the schools, to get authentic information about applicants.

In his comment, the coordinator of the NGO in Lagos, Ola Ojora, noted that the founder of the NGO was inspired by God to reach out to the needy just as he appealed to government to support the NGO.
