The commissioner of police of Niger State Command, Ogundele Ayodeji has presented N26.227 million cheques to 15 families of deceased police personnel.
The commissioner gave the cheques to the families on behalf of the inspector-general of police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba under group life assurance (GLA) yesterday at the state police headquarters, Dutsen-Kura Minna.
He also presented cheques to 38 others who sustained injuries in the line of duty under group personal accident (GPA) programme of the police.
The presentation, according to the commissioner, is geared towards providing succour for the families of deceased police personnel, and to also cater for the medical treatment expenses of the injured policemen in the line of duty.
The CP prayed for the repose of the departed souls and consoled the families. He also wished the injured personnel quick recovery.
In another development, the IGP promoted 31,465 junior cadre of the Force nationwide, and 513 personnel in Niger State Police Command benefitted.
The beneficiaries were Sergeant to Inspector-351 and those from Constable to Sergeant-162.
The commissioner of police decorated some of the beneficiaries in his office and was assisted by the deputy commissioner of police (Operations) DCP Adamu Isa Ngojin and assistant commissioner of police (Administration) ACP Yusuf Yelwa.
While decorating the promoted personnel, the commissioner asserted that promotion is an additional responsibility and therefore encouraged them to imbibe a positive change of attitude, ensure professionalism on duty and be more committed to their job.
EFCC Arrests 20 Internet Fraud Suspects In Kwara

Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 20 suspects over cybercrime offences in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The arrest of the suspects which followed credible intelligence, took place at Egbejila, Airport Road and Offa Garage Area, all in Ilorin.
The suspects are Habeeb Abubakar, Abiola Abiodun, Atitebi Samuel, Emmanuel Oborirhwoho, John Adamson, Mayowa Victor, Oluwafemi Ola, Abdullahi Isiaka, Orji Roland, Martinson Adegboyega and Kolawole Temidayo.
Others are Orimadegun Ishola, Tijani Quadri, Adebisi Kazeem, Umar Abdulkareem, Adebisi Teslim, Okunlola Ayomide, Quadri Lekan, Ukueni Great and Adeyeye Usman.
Items recovered from the suspects upon arrest include different brands of phones, laptops and exotic cars.
The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigations.
