Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has stated that the state internal Revenue Service has generated over N100 billion in one fiscal year exceeding the target given to the service.
The governor disclosed this while presenting vehicles to the chairman and directors of the State Revenue Service at the Government House, Minna.
The governor stated that the vehicles would serve as a morale booster to the board “ for their outstanding performance in generating over N100 billion revenue in one year above the target given to the service, it is unprecedented and commendable”.
Bago expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Revenue Service, for making use of the privilege to generate, pay their salaries and remit to the State Government.
He, however, urged them to explore more avenues that could double the revenue generation capacity of the state in view of the potentials
The chairman, Niger State Revenue Service, Muhammad Etsu, lauded the governor for the gesture, pointing out that the tremendous support the Service has been enjoying from the inception of the administration translated to the huge amount of revenue they were able to generate.
He said the Service is now autonomous and self-sustaining, explaining that the vehicles given to them will further encourage them to raise the revenue generation capacity of the State.
