Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello yesterday signed into law the state’s 2023 budget of N243 billion with N5 billion above the estimate presented to the House of Assembly. The budget has the capital expenditure of N152 billion while recurrent expenditure is over N91 billion.

The sectorial break down showed that the economy got the highest allocation of  N102 billion, followed by the social sector that got  N38 billion, administration sector got N9 billion as well law, while justice got N1 billion.

At the  brief event that  took place at the Council Chamber of the Government House, Minna, Governor  Sani Bello explained that his administration would ensure diligent implementation of the budget.

He said though the administration was mindful of the shortfall in resources accruing to the state, he  was hopeful that the budget would be for the benefit of all in the state.

The governor noted it was the last budget he was  assenting to, making it likely that the incoming administration might make some changes or maintain what was already approved.

He expressed optimism that the 2023 budget if implemented up to 90% would bring about a better Niger State.

He commended members of the state assembly for their continued support to the executive, pro-activeness and working tirelessly to ensure passage of the 2023 bill.
