Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago has declared a state of emergency on education in Niger North Senatorial District.

He made the declaration while on a project tour of the eight local government areas in the senatorial district.

The governor, who expressed concern over the insufficient schools in most communities in the area, especially along Bangi, Mariga local government area, said the state of emergency would help address the issue.

He said more schools would be established in the zone while all existing day schools would be renovated and furnished with modern equipment.

The governor also announced that the water problem in the area would be tackled head-on and his administration was working to eliminate all forms of criminality in the area.

He also said the reconstruction of Bangi road would be included in the 2025 budget.

Speaking in Bangi, headquarters of Mariga local government area while inspecting a road project in the area, he said the road which would connect Niger to neighbouring states, would boost farming activities, especially as the people of Mariga were engaged in massive agricultural activities.

The governor enjoined youths to embrace agriculture to improve their lives.
