Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has extolled the virtues of the former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on his 87th birthday.
The governor in a birthday message signed by his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described Obasanjo as an “exceptional, patriotic and committed leader” who used the best of his years for the survival, unity, stability and development of not just Nigeria, but the African continent.
He said at 87, the celebrant has become a living legend, and a strong voice within and outside the shores of the country considering his outstanding and commendable sacrifices for Nigeria and many African countries.
The governor maintained that Obasanjo is a leader who has had very rare opportunities to serve the country both as a head of state and democratically elected president where he did exceptionally well.
He said the celebrant stands tall among great African leaders, as his fingerprints remain an indelible mark on the African continent.
The governor prayed to God for continuous good health and vitality as well as wisdom for the celebrant to continue to offer the needed counsel to the younger generation.
