As Nigeria marks her 63rd Independence Anniversary on Sunday, October 1, 2023, a youth coalition group, Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed Vanguard (BAM-V) has urged the people of Bauchi State both at home and in the Diaspora to support the administration of Governor Bala Muhammed in his efforts to birth a new and prosperous Bauchi State.

The group, in a press release signed by its director-general, Comrade Mohammed Abubakar Jibo, made available to journalists in Abuja, expressed happiness that Governor Mohammed is in the helm of affairs as Bauchi State governor at the time Nigeria was celebrating her 63rd Independence Day, saying it is a rare privilege for the governor and members of the State Executive Council.

“The entire members of the National Executive Council of BAM-V as well as members of our group across the nation congratulate the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Kauran Bauchi on the auspicious occasion of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day Anniversary. We are particularly happy that His Excellency is at the helm of affairs as Bauchi State Governor at this period.

“We are equally happy that this Anniversary is coming on the heels of Governor Mohammed’s victory at the 18th March, 2023 Gubernatorial Election in the state which he won convincingly and his well-deserved victory at the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which upheld the mandate given to His Excellency by the good people of Bauchi State,” Jibo stated.

While stating that the Independence Day anniversary was a reminder of Nigeria’s founding fathers and heroes, Jibo called on people of Bauchi State to continuously support programmes and policies of the Governor Bala Mohammed-led administration in the state.

The BAM-V director-general asserted that supporting the governor will not only enable him to concentrate on governance but also afford him the opportunity of bringing more dividends of democracy to the state with a view to doing more for the people, the state and Nigeria at large.

He then stated that given its multi-ethnic and religious composition, Bauchi State needed peaceful and harmonious existence and tolerance among the people in order to sustain the relative peace currently being enjoyed across the state, adding that “there can never be development where there is no peace.”

According to Jibo, “On this Independence Day, let the people of Bauchi State, and indeed Nigerians in general, renew their commitment to peaceful and harmonious existence as well as tolerance. Every individual has very vital roles to play in ensuring peace in the state in particular and the Nation in general. We can only talk of development in an atmosphere of peace.

“In view of this, BAM-V urge the people of Bauchi State to support the administration of His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed as well as ensure that peace reigns in the state. This will enable the government of the day in Bauchi State under the leadership of Senator Bala Mohammed to do more for the people, the state and Nigeria in terms of bringing more dividends of democracy to them and further take the state to greater heights.

“Independence Day symbolises the triumph of our collective will and unwavering determination to shape our own destiny. It serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our forefathers and the countless heroes who fought tirelessly for our freedom. On this day, we honor their memories and pay tribute to their selfless contributions.

“Let us remember that the strength of our nation lies in its diversity. We are a tapestry of different ethnicities, religions, and languages, and it is this diversity that makes us unique. Let us embrace our differences, celebrate our shared values, and work towards a future of inclusivity and harmony.”
