Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman, has called on the citizens to strengthen the bond of unity and offer fervent prayers for leaders at all levels.
In a goodwill message, the dpeaker urged countrymen and women, regardless of region, tribe, or faith, to remain patriotic, optimistic, and vigilant while reminding political leaders to remain true to their promises of development.
“Our beloved Nigeria has been a shining light in Africa, upon which many countries look forward.
The 65 years of independence were marked with transformations, but more still needs to be done on security and economy to make the country favourable for investors,” he said.
He admonished citizens to desist from unethical conduct and act as worthy ambassadors of their families, communities, and the nation at large.
He added that prayer remains paramount, even as he commended leaders who are delivering on their mandates.
Particularly, the speaker lauded Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, for what he described as transformational leadership, impactful projects, and national efforts toward unity and progress.
He noted that the governor has consistently served as the voice of the voiceless, addressing the yearnings of the people.
Suleiman stressed that the independence celebration should also serve as a time to appreciate Nigeria’s past heroes for their sacrifices, whether through physical struggles, written submissions, or verbal advocacies, that paved the way for the country’s freedom.
“Our divergences are destined by God. We must therefore tolerate one another and work together for peaceful coexistence and economic prosperity,” he said.
The speaker urged Nigerians to merge forces, pool resources, and combine ideas to uplift living standards across the country.
He emphasised that prioritising health, education, agriculture, security, and infrastructure is pivotal in making Nigeria conducive for both citizens and foreigners.
