Nigeria and China, along with 76 other countries, are set to strengthen global partnerships in agricultural innovation and sustainability at the forthcoming second edition of Farm, Food and Allied Technology (FARMFATECH) Expo 2025, scheduled to be held at the Velodrome, National Stadium, Abuja.

President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Chief Emeka Obegolu, who disclosed this at a joint press conference with the expo sponsors in Abuja, said the expo would build upon the success of its inaugural edition by expanding international collaboration and investment in the agro-industrial sector.

According to Obegolu, the three-day event will host over 500 exhibitors from across the globe, with an estimated 500,000 visitors, including farmers, investors, policymakers, and agribusiness leaders.

He said FARMFATECH 2025 would showcase cutting-edge agromechanisation technologies, food processing solutions, and value chain innovations that aim to drive agricultural productivity, industrial growth, and food security.

“This year’s Expo reinforces our collective vision to strengthen collaboration and knowledge exchange between Nigeria and China, as well as other strategic global partners, in advancing agricultural innovation and sustainability,” Obegolu said.

“Our passion for the growth and advancement of Nigeria’s agricultural sector is at the heart of this event, which we believe will enhance productivity and create employment opportunities across the value chain.”

Adding perspective to the Expo’s theme, the managing director of Autodex Nigeria Ltd, Prince Tony Afam Ifeakandu, emphasised the central role of mechanisation and smart logistics in achieving food security.

“At Autodex, we believe food security is inseparable from productive mechanisation and smart logistics,” he said. “Nigeria’s farmers are hardworking and capable — our role is to empower them with efficient machinery and clean-energy mobility solutions that reduce costs, improve yields, and accelerate market access.”

He noted that Autodex is helping strengthen “the backbone of agricultural mobility and field-to-market reliability” through innovations in hybrid combustion and electric vehicles, tricycles, motorbikes, and utility vehicles, as well as the development of charging and battery-swap infrastructure.

“Our mission is simple,” Ifeakandu added, “equip farmers to produce more, move faster, and earn better — because a food-secure Nigeria must be powered by innovation.”

Both speakers reaffirmed that FARMFATECH 2025 will serve as a convergence point for partnerships that will redefine Nigeria’s agricultural landscape and strengthen its linkages with global agro-technology players.

Highlighting the role of the chamber, Obegolu explained that the ACCI’s Agriculture Trade Group is a key driver of the initiative, working alongside its four centres — the Business, Entrepreneurship, Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre; Abuja Trade Centre (ATC); Nigerian Chamber of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre (NCC-DRC); and the National Policy Advocacy Centre (NPAC) — to promote economic diversification, innovation, and sustainable development.
