Nigeria Steps Up Preparations For AACT 2026 As Abuja Awaits Africa

Nigeria has intensified preparations to host the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), with organisers, Ladies Golfers Association of Nigeria (LGAN), focusing on course readiness and operational arrangements ahead of the continental women’s golf championship scheduled for Abuja from November 2 to 7.

The tournament’s Technical Director, Julius Fadairo, said the technical team had inspected the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, and expressed satisfaction with the work completed ahead of the competition.

With 21 days to the championship, Fadairo said attention was also being given to preparing caddies to provide the necessary support for participating golfers throughout the six-day event.

He explained that the preparations were aimed at ensuring suitable playing conditions and an efficient tournament experience for teams expected from across Africa.

The technical arrangements form part of Nigeria’s efforts to deliver a successful championship and strengthen its position as a host of major events on the continent’s golfing calendar.

The 2026 edition will mark the third time Nigeria has hosted the AACT, following previous editions in 1996 at Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos and in 2010 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.

The championship will bring together women golfers from across Africa to compete for the continental title, with Abuja serving as the host city for the second time.

The course inspection is a key step in assessing the venue’s readiness, while preparations for caddie services are intended to ensure that players receive adequate assistance during the competition.

The organisers are working towards providing an enabling environment for participating teams, with technical and operational details receiving attention as the tournament approaches.

Nigeria’s hosting of the championship is expected to provide an opportunity to showcase its golfing facilities and support the development of women’s golf across Africa.
