Nigeria Will Survive Through Leaders Not Defined By Money – Bugaje

Convener of the Arewa Movement for Good Governance (AM2G), Dr Usman Bugaje, has said for Nigeria to survive and thrive, it must have leaders who are not defined by money and thuggery but by knowledge and the capacity they possess.

According to him, for any country to survive and thrive in the 21st century, it must have leaders who understand the game and have the ability to navigate the sophisticated terrain of the 21st century.
Dr Bugaje, a political activist and civil society leader and thinker stated this while delivering a paper as a keystone speaker at a conference on “the North and the Dangers Lurking on the Horizon: The Need for a New Consciousness, a New Conversation and a New Narrative,” in Kaduna.

The conference, which was convened by Bugaje under the platform of the AM2G had participants drawn from various sectors including religious leaders, CSOs, among others.

Dr Bugaje also took a swipe on religious leaders when he accused them of being enticed with money and drawn into a political culture that has been taken over by money, violence and inordinate ambition of people who are determined to rule by any means possible.

He also averred that the society has become mercantile, ‘cash-and-carry’ to a point that today, for many persons, money and money alone has become the single most important criteria for contesting and winning a political office.

The northern conference was chaired by the former executive secretary (ES) of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Rev. Dr Yakubu Pam.
