Nigerian Athlete Shatters African Record At NCAA Indoor Championships

Nigerian sensation Ella Onojuvwevwo delivered a truly historic performance at the recent NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, absolutely smashing the African record in the women’s 400 metres.

Onojuvwevwo stormed to a resounding victory in the heats, clocking an astonishing time of 50.28 seconds. This not only established a new African indoor record but also marked a phenomenal personal best for the young athlete. Her blistering pace even surpassed her previous outdoor personal best, underscoring her exceptional form this season.

Her remarkable 50.28s currently positions her as the fastest woman in the world over 400m this year, outpacing American Madison Whyte, who registered 50.68 seconds in the same heats. This record-breaking run also firmly places Onojuvwevwo amongst Nigeria’s fastest women in history, making her the quickest Nigerian over the distance since the legendary Falilat Ogunkoya’s 50.04 seconds in Osaka back in 2000.

Onojuvwevwo’s sensational display has undoubtedly solidified her burgeoning reputation as one of the most exciting rising stars in global athletics, as she now progresses into the latter stages of the competition.
