Jubril stated that a draft bill to change the name of the Nigerian Legion to the Veterans’ Federation of Nigeria (VFN) has been submitted to the appropriate authorities.

He highlighted the organisation’s achievements in supporting the welfare of veterans and stressed its commitment to those who have served Nigeria with honour and courage.

“We stand on the shoulders of giants, reflecting on six decades of dedication, sacrifice, and service to our beloved nation. As we mark 60 years of our rich history, we also look forward to a future filled with promise and progress,” Jubril remarked.

During a press interview, Jubril noted that the NL has participated in seminars organised by sister agencies and the Federal Ministry of Defence. These seminars aim to provide advice to the military, leveraging the experience of ex-service members to benefit current servicemen.

“As we mark 60 years of our existence through hard work, dedication, and service to Nigerian veterans, we propose to celebrate this milestone with a series of activities across the six geopolitical zones of the Federation, culminating in a grand finale in Abuja in June 2025. This celebration will honour our past and inspire future generations to uphold the values and legacy of Nigerian veterans,” Jubril said.

The event was attended by members of the Nigerian Legion from various states, serving military personnel, and other stakeholders.
